365 Project. Day 77, March 18: A couple of things about this picture. First of all, Jennifer is really good at cleaning. Recently, she has been forcing me to go through old nooks and crannies where random things have taken up residence over the fifteen years we've lived here. I'm acting like a two-year-old who doesn't want to take a nap about it, but she very patiently toils away, asking me to identify item after item and to decide, bit by bit, what needs to be thrown out, given away, or stored somewhere else. As part of her digging, she found this headset that came with my phone -- a year and a half ago. It has a little microphone and everything, so I can use it to talk on the phone while I'm driving. I think this is a much better plan than my current hands-free method, which is setting my phone on speaker mode and tucking it underneath the shoulder strap of my seat belt. The second cool thing about this headset is that it takes me back to when Brian and I were dating. He lived kind of far from me, so at times it made more sense for us to drive places separately. We hated that we could be spending that drive-time talking, but we were in separate cars. So we bought actual walkie talkies and these totally geeky headsets that pre-dated bluetooth technology. And we drove next to each other, wearing our geeky headsets and talking until we had to part ways for our separate homes. So this headset makes me proud of my little clean freak daughter, and it reminds me fondly of my courtship with my darling husband. I used it tonight, in fact, so that Brian and I could talk while he was driving back from coaching San Diego chorus, and I was driving home from coaching Ooh La La!
