2015 - 365 Project. Day 110, April 20

365 Project. Day 110, April 20: Continuing the theme of my personal hygiene products, this is what Jennifer calls my "hippy dippy deoderant". Which is funny, because I never actually noticed the label before now, when I just bought a block - "Happy Hippy Patchouli Pits"! A homeschool friend, Christina, introduced me to this years ago. I like it because it works great, it placates my neurosis about blocking up lymph nodes with chemicals, and I LOVE the smell. What's funny are the bi-polar reactions I get to it when other people smell it. They either LOVE it -- "Woah," they'll say, with a huge smile. "Patchouli! Boy, that takes me right back..." Or they'll wrinkle their nose in disgust : "Gah - patchouli - I can't stand that dirty hippie smell..." And here's my favorite story about this. Because I pretty much have a favorite story about everything. One day, long ago, FB friend and fellow barbershopper Richard Stanford had posted that he was going to be in Santa Monica on 3rd Street Promenade in case anyone wanted to hang out. I messaged him:

Me: shoot! I wish I had a way to get you some money. There's a shop there that sells something I need.
Rich: Maybe I can help. What do you need?
Me: It' s kinda silly. Too hard to explain.
Rich: Come on... what is it?
Me: It's this place that makes natural soaps and stuff. It's called Lush.
Rich: Well, what is it you get there?
Me: Seriously, it's kind of expensive and I don't even remember exactly what it's called. It's this weird vegan deoderant, and I remember that it has patchouli and some other stuff in it. I don't even know when I'd see you next to get it from you. Never mind, really, but thanks.

Fast forward several days... Brian says, "Um, you got a package in the mail. It says it's from 'the Armpit Fairy'?"

Rich had mailed me a block of the stuff.
So it turns out I have an armpit fairy.
