2015 - 365 Project. Day 44, February 13
365 Project. Day 44, February 13: Today's picture is, first and foremost, about Les Miserables. It's my favorite musical, and I've seen several wonderful productions of it. I even loved (and even own) the movie, in spite of Russell Crowe's unfortunate singing. Secondly, this picture is about my dad. Well, my dad and technology. So the deal is, I have two free tickets that came with my subscription to this theater company. We want to take the girls along, as they both love the show too. So I'm trading these for four seats together on a different day. In my phone call to the box office, the representative told me to tear up my tickets and email a photo of them with the change request. My dad, although incredibly tight-fisted with his money, was, literally, a rocket scientist, and a great lover of technology. Nearly every time I take advantage of technology - such as being able to do this process electronically, using only my phone, and not having to make copies, mail something in and wait days for a reply - I think about what a kick Dad would have gotten from this simple thing. He died in 1998, long before smart phones and DSL and other things we now can't imagine living without. I picture his delighted grin (which wasn't a common expression for him) and his little chuckle: "Hee hee hee..." He would have just loved all this stuff. If he could have brought himself to spend the money to have it!
